The title of this makes it sound like a nationalistic rant, but it actually turns out that colocating your engineers and production facilities results in better products.  The author ascribes this to effective communication of design intent, which is almost definitely part of it, but we need more scientific analysis of these causes if distributed organizations are going to meet their potential.
